The Carmelite Monastery of Jesus of Nazareth in the Diocese of Malaybalay is a foundation of Carmel of Our Lady of Nazareth in the Diocese of Cabanatuan, Nueva Ecija, Philippines. Four (4) cloistered Carmelite Nuns were commissioned to found another House of Prayer in Brgy. Panadtalan, Maramag, Bukidnon (Northern Mindanao), Philippines. The intentions of the Bishop, Bishop Emeritus Most Rev. Honesto Ch. Pacana, SJ, DD,  in accepting them in his jurisdiction are the following:  to pray for peace in the world, in the country and in the diocese; for the sanctification of all the faithful in the local Church; for the zeal and holiness of the Local Ordinary and the priests and religious in his care.

Commissioned by the Vicar General, Rev. Msgr. Elmer Jose Mangalinao, of the Diocese of Cabanatuan (in the absence of the Bishop) on November 14, 2008, Feast of all Carmelite Saints, the four foundresses made their courageous steps to contribute in giving birth to a Praying Community of cloistered Nuns in Maramag, Bukidnon. Full of hope and enthusiasm, they left their monastery of origin on November 15, 2008 to prepare themselves for their Official Establishment on November 22, 2008, in the parish of St. Andrew, the Apostle, in Maramag, Bukidnon.

Led by their Vicar Prioress and Formation Directress, Mother Ma. Cristina G. Gadrinab, O. Carm., the other three  foundresses are the following:

Sor Ma. Bernardita A. Blanco, O.Carm.- Treasurer and Secretary

Sor Ma. Violeta R. de Leon, O.Carm.- Infirmarian and Liturgist

Sor Ma. Raquel C. Ylagan, O.Carm.- Sacristan and organist

The spiritual assistance (Daily Mass) was well addressed by their Bishop otherwise there can be no new foundation of cloistered Carmel without that. The community has always been conscious of the intentions of this foundation here in Maramag, Bukidnon.

On the very eventful day of November 22, 2008, one aspirant, Ma. Fidelis de Guzman, entered as postulant, the first vocation of the newly established community. She was a former member of the Third Order Carmelites in Cabanatuan monastery- based community for 24 years, prior to her entrance to Maramag Carmel.

On September 8, 2009, their definitive site was blessed by Rev. Fr. Columbano Adag, a Benedictine monk in the Monastery of Transfiguration in Malaybalay City.

On December 5, 2009, was the blessing of the first cornerstone of the monastery. On March 2010, they started to construct their Temporary Residence within their definitive site and with God’s providential care, they were able to transfer to their temporary residence within the definitive site on June 28, 2010. Their Bamboo House and  Bamboo Chapel were  blessed by Most Rev. Jose Araneta Cabantan, D.D., Bishop of Malaybalay and followed by a Eucharistic celebration with the presence of some priests assigned in the Parish of St. Andrew, the Apostle.

Since the day of their official establishment in Maramag (November 22, 2008), they have been receiving so many prayer requests from this place of Mission and even from different places. Accordingly, the people in Maramag talk about their presence and their mission as a Praying Community, a “Powerhouse of Prayer for God’s people”.  It seems that everybody has a sense of pride to have a cloistered Carmel monastery in their midst.  To this day, the community has grown in numbers with vocations coming from this place and neighboring places within the Diocese.
