In the midst of storms and waves of life, Holy Mary, Star of the Sea, will surely and safely lead us to our Blessed Harbor JESUS and the intimate union with the Most Holy Trinity.  It is for her honor that a Carmelite Monastery, the first and only foundation of the Stella Maris Federation of the Carmelite Nuns in the Philippines, Nuns of the Order of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mount Carmel was established in the mountainous part of Tanay, Rizal.  “Carmel is all Mary’s”.

It is the fruit of the union among monasteries.  On November 11, 2001, the Marian Year of the Carmelite Order and the 750th anniversary of the giving of the Holy Scapular to St. Simon Stock by the Most Blessed Vigin Mary, the Monastery was inaugurated with nine foundressed from three monasteries.  The foundresses were: from Carmel of Our Lady of Nazareth, Cabanatuan City- Mo. Ma. de los Angeles de Jesus Perez, O. Carm., Sr. Ma. de Jesús Hervas, O. Carm.(deceased), Sr. Ma. Esperanza of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Cecilio, O. Carm. and Sr. Mary Grace of the Crucified and Risen Jesus Bruno, O. Carm.; from the Carmelite Monastery of the Holy Family, Guiguinto, Bulacan – Sr. Ma. Modesta de la Santísima Trinidad Mendoza (deceased), Rev. Mo. Ma. Rebecca of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Valdez, O. Carm., Sr. Ma. Cynthia of the Sacred Heart Santos, O. Carm. and Sr. Ma. Carmela of the Child Jesus Necodino, O. Carm.;  from the Carmelite Monastery of Our Lady of Maravillas and St.Joseph, Dumaguete City- Sr. Ma. Lolita of the Assumption Narzabal, O. Carm.

The foundation was offered to the Most Holy Trinity for the love and intentions of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Mary, most especially for the salvation and sanctification of Priests and families.

We place our nothingness in Him Who is our all and in His mercy, He fills us, poor and small vessels with His overflowing love nad mercy that cannot but overflow to souls.  We are poor instruments placed in the hands of the Savior of the world, one with Him in His Divine Mysteries.

Carmel is here that GOD may be loved above all, that the Heart of the Church may continue to beat with love so that the other members of the Church may continue to move in love.  Everything is GOD’s grace and work.  This powerhouse of prayer has an unfailing energy: the Eucharistic LORD JESUS.

VISION

We, the Carmelite Nuns of Carmel of Mary, Star of the Sea, living in the Heart of Mary, our Mother, have come in a united response to a common call to be loved by God and to fulfill His first Commandment of loving Him with all our heart, soul and mind and our whole being.

MISSION

We shall embrace more intensely the mission of Jesus in union with Mary by:

• being more conformed to His image in His self-emptying love, through our vowed life,

loving Him with an undivided heart and total gift of self; and

• being living stones, building an ideal community according to the Spirit of Carmel for the cloistered Nuns.

We shall live in His presence with Mary and strive towards an intense interior and fraternal life according to our contemplative vocation.

And thus, in the Heart of the Church, we shall be living witnesses of the Father’s love and mercy reaching out to the people and radiating His love for the vivacity of the Mystical Body of Christ, the Church.

We hope that His praise will be sung throughout all generations in this Carmel of Mary, Star of the Sea.
